Milwaukee Bucks to Wear Nike Classic Edition Jersey for "Return to the MECCA" August 29, 2017 17:45
The first time we'll see this kit worn on court will be on the 26th October, as the Bucks welcome the Boston Celtics to the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena, formerly known as the MECCA. This "Return to the MECCA" game is part of a larger celebration of the Buck's 50th Anniversary season.
The Bucks called the MECCA their home when they joined the NBA in 1968, and played their through until 1988. They played the Boston Celtics 48 times in the regular season at the MECCA, going 30 - 18, in what proved to always be an exciting match up.
In just their third season, the Bucks compiled a 34-2 record at the MECCA and went on to win the 1971 NBA Championship. “Return to the MECCA” will be the first time the Bucks have hosted a regular season home game off-site in Wisconsin since they played three regular season home games in Madison during the 1974-75 season.
The Bucks’ Classic Edition uniform is Nike’s modern take on the original Bucks uniform from 1968 and will be worn on select dates throughout the 2017-18 season. Check out the video below for more about the "Return to the MECCA".
