Adidas Breaks Out the Harden Vol. 2, Ready For All-Star Weekend February 10, 2018 11:39
The long-awaited adidas Harden Vol. 2 is almost here, as James Harden and adidas start to ramp up the hype ahead of the 2018 NBA All-Star Weekend in Los Angeles.
The Harden Vol. 2 has been completely redesigned and so is starkly different to the Vol. 1. Adidas has worked through all aspects of the shoe and honed the materials, construction and performance to enhance what Harden is all about - putting his defender on skates, and punishing him with buckets.
Adidas introduced FORGEFIBRE on this shoe, which replaces the toe shroud from the Vol. 1. FORGEFIBRE has been engineered to provide comfort, without stiffness, while still maintaining the strength needed to support the foot through hard cuts to the basket, jab steps and changing things up on your defender super quick.
FORGEFIBRE is created with TPU-coated yarn, and sees three unique layers of stitched material, over a stretch-based mesh, keeping the toe end of the shoe strong but flexible.
Another new feature for the Harden Vol. 2 is the customisable lacing system, which allows each player to personalise their lockdown to fit their foot. We saw this last on the D Lillard 3 but the cut of that panel on the Harden Vol. 2, and manner in which adidas is introducing design elements across the lacing structure really moves this idea forward.
A band also stretches across the foot at the bottom of the lacing structure, giving extra support by bridging the upper.
BOOST ON BOOST ON BOOST
The Harden Vol. 2 is absolutely loaded full of adidas BOOST, with BOOST cushioning running the full length of the shoe. The BOOST unit is also a lot thicker than the Vol. 1, pushing the comfort on this one above and beyond.
The shoe has also been designed with a wide base at the back of the foot, to help with balance as Harden's footwork goes into overdrive, while midfoot grooves house a stability plate for torsion control.
A big change for the Harden Vol. 2 is also that extended outsole, that wraps around the heel of the shoe, ensuring durability of the shoe, and creating further weight balance across the silhouette.
The California Dreaming colourway of the Harden Vol. 2 will go on general release on February 16th, after making it's debut over in Los Angeles ahead of the All-Star game.
Harden grew up in California, and shaped his game out there in the City of Angels. This colourway takes hues from the LA sunrise, and features a palm tree camo on the lace system. Pastel green and purple accents, over a chalk coral upper with orange FORGEFIBRE threads, sit over dark grey BOOST.
IGNITE THE GAME
Another adidas Harden Vol. 2 colourway releasing on the 16th of February is the Ignite. Creating more points – scored or assisted on – than any player in the league, James is the key to igniting the Rockets’ high-powered offence. Harden Vol. 2 Ignite represents James’ fire to bring a title back to Houston, and comes in a maroon and navy colourway.
The Harden Vol. 2 will be right here at Hardwood Ventures on Friday 16th February.
