Damian Lillard to be 2013 NBA Rookie of the Year May 01, 2013 10:03

The 2013 NBA Rookie of the Year is going to be announced today, and Damian Lillard is right up there in first place. Lillards only real competition for the award is last year's first round draft pick, Anthony Davis, who has lead rookies in rebounding and blocks this season, but that won't be enough.

Lillard was selected by the Portland Trailblazers in the first round of the draft, as the sixth overall pick. He has led all rookies in scoring and assists this season, and with 185 s-pointers, he has taken the NBA record for most ever 3's by a rookie, in history.

Another impressive feat is that Lillard won the Western Conference Rookie of the Month for every month of the season. He also joins Oscar Robinson and Allen Iverson are the only other players in history to have racked up at least 1,500 points and 500 assists in their rookie season.

Lillard started all 82 games of the season for the Portland Trail Blazers, and really looks to have a bright future in the league if he can build on this seasons success.
