NBA in the UK: OKC to Take on 76ers in Manchester in October 2013 March 05, 2013 13:10

The NBA will making a return to the UK in October, when the Oklahoma City Thunder take on the Philadelphia 76ers in a pre-season game.

The 8th October 2013 will mark the first time that Manchester will be host to a pre-season NBA game. The game comes as part of the NBA's wider global initiative, which will also see Brazil, the Philippines, and Bilbao in Spain, holding their first ever NBA pre-season games.

As well as the game itself, NBA Cares will be in town as part of the NBA outreach programme that looks to provide activities and events for fans in the city.

NBA Commissioner, David Stern, has said; “Providing fans with an authentic NBA experience is an important part of our efforts to grow the game globally. This fall, nearly a third of our teams will embark on a global tour that will celebrate the game of basketball, give our international fans a chance to connect with NBA teams and players, and leave a lasting impact in each of the communities we visit.”

Personally, we can't wait! Fingers crossed we get to see Durant and Westbrook in the UK later this year!
