It's rare that a dead brand makes a come back, and it's even rarer when they do it with as much flair and hype asEwing Athleticshave done. They got the limited release of theEwing 33 Hilast year just right, with little orange basketball keyrings popping up all over the place, and stockists shelves being cleared in the blink of an eye.
With Ewing Athletics making an epic come back, lets take a look at the shoes from the late 1980's and the 1990's that made them such a hit in the first place.

EWING REBOUND HI - 1989
TThe Ewing Rebound Hi was the very very first Ewing Athletics shoe, from 1989. This one wasn't exactly breaking the mould, as it was an existing shoe model that just had the Ewing logo added to it. Patrick Ewing wore the shoe for most of the 1989 season.
EWING 33 HI - 1990
TheEwing 33 Hiis the flagship Ewing Athletics shoe. The retro shoes were released in limited numbers in November 2012 in blue, red, black and white colourways. The shoe features a reversible ankle strap that can be worn on the front or back of the shoe.
The shoe was worn by Ewing in the 1990 season and it featured in plenty of 90's movies, videos and album covers.
EWING GUARD MID - 1991
The Ewing Guard Mid was a mid cut shoe based on the 33 Hi silhouette, it was released in 1991 and featured the same sole and midsole, but no reversible ankle strap and a lower cut.
EWING CENTER HI - 1991
The Center Hi shoe was the followup to the 33 Hi, and it wasn't totally unlike the 33 shoe. It came in the typical EWing coloruways, and this time featured an extra padded tongue. Patrick Ewing wore the Center Hi during the 1991 season.
EWING EXTREME HI - 1992
The Ewing Extreme Hi was notably the only shoe in the Ewing line-up to have a clear sole, and it came in a limited number of colourways. The shoe was hi cut, and built for performance, with extra ankle padding and structure.
EWING CONCEPT - 1992
Patrick wore the Ewing Concept during the 1992 season, and the shoe featured the first ever strap to be wrapped around the entire shoe. The shoe came in a variety of colourways, and maintained the thick, chunky Ewing 'look'.
EWING ECLIPSE HI (OLYMPIC) - 1992
Ewing famously wore this shoe when he was a member of the Dream Team in the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. The USA would go on to win the gold medal. The shoe was a lightweight performance model, in the US colours of white, navy and red. The shoe came in a special box, along with a fake gold medal with the number #6 on it.
EWING ORION LOW - 1993
The Ewing Orion Low was not an on-court shoe, but it was still very popular amongst Ewing fans in 1993. It was released with a gumsole and capsule contraction, and was paired with a mid version that also had a rear ankle strap.
EWING KEY MID - 1993
This mid range shoe came out in 1993, and had a tidy suede upper. The shoe also featured a front velcro strap.
EWING KROSS MID - 1993
The Ewing Kross Mid was a slightly more colourful affair than the previous two sets of releases in 1993. It again featured a signature ankle strap, and as a cross trainer, came with a lateral support system.
EWING SPORT LYTE - 1993
A lightweight cross trainer from 1993, this shoe featured breathable mesh inserts and a lateral support system.
EWING FOCUS - 1993
TheEwing Focuswas the second most popular Ewing model, after the 33 Hi. It was released during the 1993 season, and stood as the most technologically advanced shoe that the company had released.
It came in brighter colourways than the 33 Hi, had a textured, lightweight midsole, neoprene inserts and an embedded ankle strap.
EWING BASELINE MID - 1993
A mid cut high performance shoe that featured neoprene inserts on the upper and an ankle strap on the rear. Ewing briefly wore this shoe for a few games in the 1993 playoffs against Chicago.
EWING DOMAIN HI - 1994
The Domain Hi was a performance shoe, with a 33 cage on the side. Patrick wore these during the 1994 regular season. When they were released in Europe, they were slightly different. They were called the Tryout, and had an additional ankle strap.
EWING WRAP MID - 1994
A sleek mid cut shoe originally released in 1994 with neoprene upper inserts that came in several vibrant colorways.
EWING WRAP HI - 1994
The Ewing Wrap Hi was the same basic shoe construction as the Wrap Mid, but it also had an Ace Bandage Tongue for awesome ankle support that was way ahead of its time.
EWING SWATT LOW - 1994
A base model from 1994, it featured a gum rubber cupsole and supportive midfoot strap and came in a mid cut as well.
EWING ANODE LOW - 1994
A lightweight running shoe that released in 1994, it came in 2 colorways and featured a breathable 33 cage on the side.
EWING ROGUE II - 1994
Released in 1994 in Europe, this shoe has become hugely popular on the internet in recent years and has generated lots of interest. Featured two midfoot support straps and a speckled midsole.
EWING WARRIOR HI - 1994
A solid outdoor basketball shoe that released in 1994, this shoe had heavy canvas quarter panels for durability.
EWING EMPIRE HI - 1995
The final Ewing Athletics model from the 1990s, this shoe was released in late 1995 and worn by Patrick throughout the 1995-96 season. The retail version was a midcut although the pictured model was a high that was custom made for and worn by Patrick. This shoe was also worn by Patrick in Space Jam.
