Steve Nash Reaches 10,000 Career Assists January 09, 2013 09:20

Finally some good news for the LA Lakers, or Steve Nash at least. Last night, as the Lakers took on the Houston Rockets, Steve Nash passed the 10,000 career assists mark.

Nash had 10 assists in the game, taking him up to a grand total of 10,005 assists during his 17 years in the NBA. Nash is only the 5th ever player to pass the 10,000 mark, so he joins an elite crew of facilitators. John Stockton (who racked up over 15,000 career assists), Jason Kidd, Mark Jackson and Magic Johnson are the other players to reach that goal.

It's also noted that Oscar Robinson retired with 9,887 assists, and would likely have reached 10,000 if he'd had the chance to play 82 games in a season. Despite Nash's accomplishment, the struggling Lakers still lost to the Rockets, 112-125.
