NBA All-Star Saturday Night will Change Format in 2013 December 21, 2012 13:19

One of the highlights of the NBA season, is the NBA All-Star Weekend, which will take place on the 16th and 17th February next year, in Houston, Texas.

This year, things are going to be a little bit different, as the format for the State Farm All-Star Saturday Night is going to be changing.

Instead of just individual players going up against it in the skill challenges, and someone being crowned the winner, the new format will pit Eastern Conference stars against Western Conference stars.

Four skills competitions will take place on Saturday night, and the points earned by players from each conference will be added together to give either the East or West as winners.

The aim of the night is to entertain, and also raise money for charity, and the hope is that people can really get behind either the Eastern or Western conference challengers.

The competitions on the All-Star Saturday will be:

  • Shooting Stars
  • Taco Bell Skills Challenge
  • Foot Locker Three-Point Content
  • Sprite Slam Dunk Contest

The NBA All-Star game will be played on the Sunday night at the Toyota Center, and will see some of the greatest basketball players in the world go up against each other in a game that is as much about fun and showing off, as it is about playing ball.
