The Brooklyn Nets opened their NBA season at home in the new Barclays Centre on Saturday, against the Toronto Raptors. The new-look Nets also took the opportunity to unveil their brand new mascot, and the first ever super hero to look out for an NBA team.
The Brooklyn Knight is a collaboration between the Brooklyn Nets and Marvel, who both describe the new mascot as “protector of Brooklyn’s hometown team, defender of New York’s largest and most courageous borough, and ruler of Barclays Center.”
Everyone who attended Saturday nights game was given a copy of Brooklyn Knight #1, a 32 page comic book, written by Jason Aaron and illustrated by Mike Deodato.
It's rumoured that fans attending the Brooklyn game on the 11th November, at the Barclays Centre versus the Orlando Magic, will get a limited edition Brooklyn Knight trading card, courtesy of Marvel and the Nets.
Can the Brooklyn Nets get any cooler? New awesome stadium, they're from Brooklyn, their kit is black and white, they're running under the watchful eye of Jay-Z and now they've got their own Marvel super hero.
