If you're hardcore into your basketball gear, you might be aware of K1X. If not, let us introduce you to one of the sickest basketball clothing and footwear companies around.
K1X started out in Munich, Germany, in 1993, basically selling tees off the back of a truck. Now, this basketball/hip hop mash up of a brand is internationally established as a name in the urban lifestyle game.
This is what K1X have to say about what got them into the game:
"It was the complete and utter fascination with the game’s specifics that brought us together. Back then it was the way John Starks dwarfed the Bulls with that one dunk. Chuck’s oversized personality. Oscar Schmidt’s refusal to join the league. The Worm’s hustle and post-outlet up-court jog. Billy Hoyle’s understatement. Mike’s “I got this” face. Petro celebrating each deep three like a game winner, the Reignman’s lisp and Shaq’s draft hype. First pick. Young Penny. Run TMC. Hoop Dreams. Scottie’s reach, LJ’s beard, C-Webb’s shorts, Horry’s rings and Seikaly’s South Beach babes. The myth of Real Madrid’s Arvydas Sabonis. AI’s swag, Stockton yo-yo’ing at the 3pt. line and Oak’s midrange J. A capacity crowd at the park. Sprewell vs. Coach Carlesimo. Buggin Out vs. “Larry”. Bird’s cameo in “Jump Around”. Thunder Dan from downtown, KJ over the Dream and Zo posting up down low. Jesus Shuttlesworth. Vintage jerseys, new team logos and fresh kicks. Dikembe’s finger, Ryder’s Oakland roots and the Mailman’s boots. Marv Albert’s “yesss”, Coach Jackson’s gait and Dominique’s windmill. Well, you get the picture…"
K1X, or The Nation of Hoop, as they're often referred to as, run a real smooth operation and their basketball clothes can be seen all over the place. Recent spots include the likes of Rapper Mac Miller, Greg Tanner (British TV producer, and editor at MVP Magazine) (pic below), USA college baller Jonathan Mesghna and Bamba Nazar (pics above).
All that being said, we're proud to be able to work with K1X, and bring some of their style and passion to the UK. They're constantly releasing epic 'packs', like their Barcelona Pack that payed homage to the 1992 Olympic mens basketball team, the Dream Team, or their recent Muggsy Bogues collection.
We're also looking forward to February 2013 when they're rumoured to be dropping a new basketball shoe called Anti Gravity. Seriously cannot wait.
So stay tuned and check out what K1X have got to offer ballers here in the UK.
