Celtics Finally Announce the Signing of KG July 16, 2012 17:05

The Boston Celtics have finally announced in a press conference that they have re-signed Kevin Garnett, for the next 3 years.

The news comes after several reports in the last few weeks, which circulated around in the media that the future Hall of Famer had agreed to stay with the C's.

Garnett led Boston to the Eastern Conference Finals where they eventually lost to the NBA champions, the Miami Heat, in a 7 game thriller.

Last season, Garnett averaged 15.8 points, 8.2 rebounds and 2.9 assists in 60 games for Boston. It was important for the Celtics to sign one of their best players after Ray Allen decided to sign for the Miami Heat this summer, effectively breaking up the 'big 3' of Allen, Garnett and Pierce.

Also re-signing with the Celtics this week were forwards Brandon Bass and Chris Wilcox. Last season, Bass averaged 12.5 points and 6.2 rebounds in 59 games, while Wilcox averaged 5.4 points and 4.4 rebounds in 28 games.
