Nash Hired As Canada's GM May 10, 2012 19:12

It was announced yesterday, that Steve Nash of the Phoenix Suns, has been selected as the general manager of Canada's national basketball program.

The 38-year-old Nash has a tough new job, after the Canadian national team failed to make it to the London 2012 Olympics.

“I'm thrilled to be able to take on this challenge," Nash said. "We have lots of work to do and I'm excited to get started.

..With the talent we are developing in this country, Canada has an opportunity to become one of the top basketball nations in the world."

Nash played for the Canadian Olympic team in Sydney in 2000, where they finished 7th overall in the competition.

The Canadian team has been without its Head Coach, Leo Rautins, since last September, when he resigned after Canada failed to make it through in the Olympic qualifying tournament.
