France Announces Its Preliminary Squad for London 2012 May 10, 2012 18:19

France's Basketball Federation the FBF, have announced its preliminary 18 man squad for the London 2012 Olympics. The team comprises of a host of NBA players, such as Tony Parker, Joakim Noah, Nicolas Batum and Rodrigue Beaubois.

Tony Parker, of the San Antonio Spurs has been having a killer season in the NBA, averaging 18.3 points and 7.7 assists.  Parker has also been making a case for being named as the MVP for the 2011/12 NBA season, after actively leading his team to 50 wins and only 16 loses. 

When questioned about how much Tony Parker means to the French national team, coach Vincent Collet has said; “He is our undisputed leader...I will say no more.”

Parker is far from alone, when it comes to talented players on the French team, as they make their way towards the London 2012 Olympics. Joakim Noah has had a great season with the Chicago Bulls, helping his team to finish top, with the best record. 

Nicolas Batum, of the Portland Trailblazers, didn't make it to the playoffs, but Collet has said; “His season was shorter than what we predicted but from a statistical standpoint, it was the best of his career...He remains one of the leaders of this team.” Batum played in France during the NBA Lockout and returned to the NBA to shoot 39.1% from behind the arc and averaging 13.9 points, 4.6 rebounds, a steal and a block.
