The NBA has announced that New Orleans will host the 2014 NBA All-Star Game, making it the second time the city will have hosted the event in six years.
The All-Star Game is planned to be played at the home of the New Orleans Hornets on 16th Feb 2014 at the New Orleans Arena.
NBA Commissioner, David Stern said in a statement that, "There is no better place to celebrate and showcase the NBA than in New Orleans, a city with a rich tradition of hosting major events that is second-to-none."
New Orleans is also due to play host to another huge event, the Super Bowl in February 2013.
Tom Benson, the current owner of the NFL's New Orleans Saints, recently bought the New Orleans Hornets for $338 million dollars off of the NBA, who owned the team.
Tom Benson said in a statement that,"In February 2013, we will host the Super Bowl. In February 2014, we will host the NBA All-Star Game...The city of New Orleans is the place to be. Hundreds and hundreds of millions of dollars in economic impact will be generated for our region."
The 2013 NBA All-Star Game is scheduled to take place in Houston, Texas.
