NBA Center Byron Mullens Announces Eligibility for Team GB March 03, 2012 14:42
Byron Mullens, of the Charlotte Bobcats, has announced on Twitter that he is eligible to play for Great Britain at the London 2012 Olympics, after receiving his British passport.
The 23 year old, seven footer, has played in the NBA for three years now after being drafted 24th in the 2009 NBA Draft.
Mullens was born in Ohio, but qualifies to represent Great Britain through his mother, who was born in Middlesex.
Mullens wrote on Twitter: "Yessir. I will be in London this summer! 2012 summer Olympics."
Mullens currently averages 9.4 points and 4.2 rebounds for the Bobcats this year.
If selected to play at London 2012 by Team GB, he could join the likes of Luol Deng, Pops Mensah-Bonsu, Joel Freeland and Robert Archibald in Britain's 12 man squad.
The Detroit Pistons' Ben Gordon has confirmed his intention to play for Team GB at the Olympics, but GB critics think these are false assertions.
