Jeremy Evans Wins 2012 Slam Dunk Contest February 26, 2012 18:55
Late replacement, Jeremy Evans of the Utah Jazz, was last night crowned as the 2012 Slam Dunk Champion at All-Star Weekend.
Evans, who won 29% of the 3 million public votes cast, entertained Orlando's crowd with an array of creative dunks, including a dunk over comedian Kevin Hart, and a dunk which involved dunking two balls at the same time, having jumped over a seated Gordon Hayward.
Evans fended off stiff competition from Houston's Chase Budinger, who wowed the crowd with some very athletic dunks, including one which he dunked blindfolded. The dunk payed homage to Cedric Ceballos' 1992 dunk, but this time Chase finished with a reverse slam.
“I’m very happy with my performance. I went out there, I had a plan and I executed the plan and the fans voted and I didn’t win and that happens sometimes,” Budinger said. “But I had great dunks and they’re going to be great memories as well.”
Indiana's Paul George, who dunk over teammates Roy Hibbert (who is 7' 2'') and Dahntay Jones, was runner up along with Minnesota's Derrick Williams.
