Rondo Named as Johnson's Replacement for All-Star Game February 23, 2012 18:31

Rajon Rondo has been named as the replacement for the injured Joe Johnson in the NBA All-Star Game.

Johnson, of the Hawks, is sitting out the NBA All-Star Game due to tendinitis of the left knee. NBA commissioner David Stern was responsible for choosing the replacement, selecting Rondo from the Boston Celtics.

Rondo is averaging 14.8 points and 9.5 assists per game this season.

Many critics thought that Josh Smith of the Atlanta Hawks should have been selected as a replacement for his teammate Johnson.

The NBA also announced that Kevin Durant, of the Oklahoma City Thunder, will be replacing Joe Johnson in the Three Point Contest, during the 2012 All-Star Weekend.
