Nash Becomes Suns' All-Time Assists Leader February 02, 2012 15:32

Steve Nash, last night broke the Phoenix Suns' all-time assists record, in a 120-103 victory over the New Orleans Hornets.

The former two-time MVP, surpassed Kevin Johnson's 6,518 assists to finish the game with a new Suns record of 6,522 assists.

Nash finished the game with a season high 30 points, to go with 10 assists.

After the game, the ever modest Nash said “To be honest, it pales in comparison to getting the win."

"The things that really matter about (the record) is: One, to be up there with Kevin, who was a great, great player and deserves a lot of credit for what type of player he was. And then the other one, just I love the city and organization and to do it for the Suns is a real honor. But other than that I’m just glad the team got the win.”

The 37 year old Nash now has 9,441 career assists, which currently ranks him sixth all-time in the NBA. He's 46 behind Oscar Robinson and 200 behind Magic Johnson in the all-time rankings.
