Joe Chapman and Jeremy Bell Are Named in the BBL Team of the Week January 25, 2012 15:24

The BBL Team of the Week has been announced, and for a change, there are five players from five different teams making an appearance.

This weeks starting five looks like:

Joe Chapman, Newcastle Eagles

Chapman is a huge favourite amongst Eagles fans, and is perhaps most associated with his mean 3-point shooting skills, but defence has really been the aim of the game for Chapman this season. This week, against the Durham Wildcats, Chapman had 28 points, 7 assists, 2 steals and 2 rebounds, and was seriously influential in ensuring that the Eagles got the win, after falling behind by double figures in the 3rd.

Jeremy Bell, UCP Marjon Plymouth Raiders

After Plymouth lost in the BBL Cup Final, they were in serious need of a pick up, and it was Bell who encouraged his team to double wins against the Guildford Heat and the Cheshire Jets. He had 54 points in the one weekend, as well as picking up stats in rebounding and steals to see his team through.

Sherrad Prezzie-Blue, Worcester Wolves

Prezzie-Blue is doing well this season, and has been in the BBL Team of the Week five times. In the Wolves game against the Chester Jets he roared to a double-double of 24 points and 10 assists, adding 4 rebounds to ensure that the 2012/2012 BBL season remains the best ever in Wolves history.

Myles Hesson, Mersey Tigers

After really pulling it out of the bag last season, the Mersey Tigers have been struggling so far in this campaign, and no where more so, than on the road. Last Sunday, however, the Tigers chalked up their first BBL road win against the Glasgow Rocks. Hesson was instrumental in the win for the team by racking up a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds, and throwing in 3 steals for good measure.

Daniel Northern, Prestige Homes MK Lions

Northern is doing the MK Lions proud this week, by being helping them make their first appearance in the BBL Team of the Week starting five. Northern ran out with a double-double of 16 points and 18 rebounds against the Leicester Riders, putting a dampener on their title ambitions. Northern has been one of the leading rebounders all season, helping his team to their best performance of the season.

On the bench for this weeks team are:

  • Charles Smith, Newcastle Eagles
  • Mike Capocci, Durham Wildcats
  • Drew Sullivan, Jelson Homes DMU Leicester Riders
  • Fab Flournoy, Newcastle Eagles
  • Matt Schneck, Cheshire Jets
  • Mike Martin, Guildford Heat
